			Recording DX7 ambience broadcast over AM to the crystal radio. Turns out a lot of harmonics are introduced, in the transmitter as much as the receiver. Using a galena crystal from Wheal Clinton, flushing. This will be used as a backing track for the next gig.

	Couple of hours recording, mixing ewtowan samples with the more easy to use Ale & Cakes [[galena]] and Penstruthal [[chalcocite]]. Getting a bit more to grips with [[chaotic triangle]] again, super for bass. In minimal a gig setup, single volca and only 3 voices. Noticed quiet square this time was down to tiny adjustment in 1920's galena diode. 			Quality of life fixes and improvements before gig:

			* Sort cat's whiskers so the fit the bases properly - mount in threads somehow (raid B&Q plumbing)
			* Connectors for cat's whiskers are still really bad, crimp mini-pv connectors. Can these be left connected to save time?
			* Build [[chaotic relaxation]] module
			* Incorporate new galena diode
			* How to highlight crystals?
			* Record dx7 patches through transmitter/xtal radio for backing track
			* New field recording needed?

			Picked up another (extraordinarily cheap) cat's whisker on ebay, when you can get them as parts its much better. This one is not quite as crusty as it looks, but I'll try and give it a clean and sort out a mounting base for it as it should be useful for live performaces. The galena crystal has somehow survived the ravages of time, but I'm not quite sure how to remove it - it doesn't seem to be mounted in wood's metal, but it's attached mechanically.

	[[Bassett and Grylls exotic semiconductor field trip\|Bassett and Grylls]] material I collected not yet yielding any usable material, I tried out the [[hematite\|specularite]] I found previously at this location with the [[chaotic relaxation]] oscillator. ~~Long day~~ of ~~recording material, pretty maximalist~~, first ~~time all four low pass gate inputs were used at once~~, ~~used both volca modulars and the crystal radio diode with~~ one of the ~~ladder filters~~. This circuit is pretty happy doing its thing with any semiconductor, it's going to be useful live I think. Modulated the voltage of one of the phase offset grounds, first with the variable voltage level of the shift register, then plugged straight into one of the registers (which totally kills oscillation when it's grounded I think).

	~~First~~ attempts were all Great Wheal Charlotte material + B&G specularite, then one with old favourites (Ale & Cakes galena, GWC ~~pyrite~~?, Penstruthal [[chalcocite]] + B&G spec) ~~then~~ last take with all East Wheal Towan material + B&G spec.		A long day of recording a lot of material, pretty maximalist: the first time all four low pass gate inputs were used at once, used both volca modulars and the crystal radio diode with one of the ladder filters.

			The first attempts were all Great Wheal Charlotte material and B&G specularite, then one with some old favourites (Ale & Cakes galena, keeping a GWC chalcopyrite?, the Penstruthal [[chalcocite]] + B&G spec). Then the last take was with all East Wheal Towan material + B&G spec.

	The [[Bassett and Grylls exotic semiconductor field trip]], possibly found [[magnetite]] and tested previously found specularite [[hematite]]. To my surprise this form of hematite from this location is a semiconductor, while material from elsewhere is not. Also a positive result from [[magnetite]]. 			Edit: "magnetite" sample seems to be a piece of ferrous metal mixed with something crystalline - presumably slag or waste from industrial processes extracting ore? An interesting fragment, and not surprising a complex mix like this has a mild semiconducting property (similar to rusty razor blades) - but I will probably set it aside for now.
