Pattern club gig thoughts

Thoughts:
- Biggest PA I've used, originally in the soundcheck we had the bass up ridiculously high which caused (really interesting) feedback by vibrating the cat's whiskers. After turning it down it was fine, even at loud volumes/close proximity to the speaker.
- The quad low pass gate was perfect for keeping things in control, reducing high end without volume - really helped with the PA.
- The new mixer worked a charm, having the bg noise and field recording on there was much easier than using the 4 track, and having some basic effects I could change live is wonderful. Need to be careful not to overdo the reverb, but some is nice and the contrast with the dry parts is great.
- A bad contact on the stripped enamel coated wire connecting one of the oscillators to the crystal caused a longer delay at the start than I wanted and a rushed end section.
- The ye-olde galena diode was brilliant - I hadn't had much of a chance to rehearse with it as it only arrived a few days before, but it's relative stability in use with the ladder filter saved the day to a large extent.
- The enforced ambient/noise part at the start is actually quite good - but I did shorten it in the recording release to get to the more 'active' bits sooner.
- The toolbox and magnets approach worked well, no damage after being wedged in a wheelie suitcase for a long train trip. The setup was pretty straightforward too.
- Recording the room on my phone meant I could mix it in (even if blown out) the background of the mixer recording. Also gave me a timer, although I didn't use it.
- The only thing that was the same as the stonesdronesnoise gig were the crystals - I actually wish I'd spent a bit longer experimenting with more, but it felt a bit too rushed for that.
- Handing round crystals at the start made for some great audience shots.
- Probably need to prepare what to say at the start a little more.
- Need to think about how to use projections - or whether to keep it simple/close ups type of thing.
- Volca mod did it's thing really well again, providing overall flow control via sequencer clock + more modulation than last time.
Todo
- Switch to crimped crystal connections, not quite sure how yet.
- Fix up noise gate, bodge jobs on mistakes - probably don't need to re-cut one as previously planned.
- More oscillator voice options.
- High pass ladder filter??
